Signs Your DoorKing Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

• The gate sags toward the latch side by half an inch or more. This usually means a hinge weld is cracking and the gate is rotating on the remaining intact weld bead. The longer it sags, the more stress transfers to the operator arm, which wasn’t designed to carry gate weight.
• You hear a metallic pop or creak when the gate starts moving. That’s a cracked weld flexing under load. Weld cracks telegraph audible movement. If the sound comes from the operator mount area, it’s the mount plate or bracket failing, not the hinge.
• The operator arm moves, but the gate lags behind it. The clamp bracket that connects the DoorKing arm to the gate frame has loosened or the bracket itself is bending. On a 6300 or 6500, this is often the cast arm clamp cracking at its thinnest section.
• Rust staining runs down from a weld joint. Weld zones rust faster than parent metal because the heat draws carbon to the surface. • The gate drifts back after closing, or the limits seem to “move” on their own. The DoorKing limit switches are set relative to gate travel.
